Shield her and she'll Shine
They only saw your makeup,
Not the bruised face it hid.
They said it was your fate,
And that a Woman must tolerate.
You got the children to attend, and the clothes to mend,
The floor to mop and the grocery to shop.
They made you feel ashamed of your biology,
They labelled it An epitome of impurity.
You bleed for glee and happiness,
They bleed in agony or in misery,
I want you never forget that,
You were chosen for life and delivery.
They may put you down every time,
With their crafty, twisted lies,
They may encroach you in the very dirt,
But still, like dust, you’ll rise.
They may hit you with their words,
They may scare you with their eyes,
They may kill you with their hate,
But still, like air, you’ll rise.
When you need a helping hand,
And get nothing but contempt.
There’ll be many who’ll try stepping in your shoes,
But I know you wish, someone actually walks in those shoes with you.
Some tell you to grow up, others want you to act your age.
These shackles of dichotomy, these fetters of doubt.
I Understand, your desire for assurance, your desire for consolation.
When the world turns intolerant, even the kiths start spewing venom,
I know you would want someone, who embraces you and guides you.
Who extends a shoulder for you to cry,
Who hears you out whenever you sigh.
Gives you a Way, Shows you a Ray
Tells you it’s OKAY, not to be OKAY !!
So here I am, To shield you in All your vulnerabilities,
They may call me sissy, or any other.
I fret not, as I have been raised with love,
I Am the SON OF MY MOTHER.
